Test Plugs & Probes
Available for any SecuControl test interface product line, a variety of multi- and single-pole plugs and probes enable efficient, safe and accurate testing and measuring of secondary circuits. STP Test Plugs and Probes are for use with the ITS and SAX product lines, and STL Test Plugs and Probes are for use with the FTL product line.
General Description
Complex test plug assemblies are made to mirror your test block’s configuration and easily enable the standardization of accurate testing procedures. Inserting the plug into its matching test block automatically provides properly sequenced entry (STP test plugs for ITS and SAX only), safe elimination of currents, isolation of your IED, and the interface for secondary test equipment, all in one single motion.
Multi-contact banana jacks installed in the plugs provide the interface for safe and easy access to your IED. Built-in shorting bridges handle reliable and automatic short circuiting of current transformers every time the plug is inserted. There are no exposed metal parts during operation, and plugs are keyed to their appropriate test block to prevent operator error and incorrect insertion. As opposed to knife blade switches, the motion of plug insertion and removal actually breaks the direction of any potential arc, maximizing safety for operators and equipment. Test probes consist of single or multiple modules, built with the same high-quality features of our test plugs. They are used for monitoring and measuring of individual circuits and advanced testing procedures. Test probes offer great flexibility while still maintaining the safety advantages of all SecuControl products.
